Wife bought a fan w/ light from Home Depot. I have 14/3 run from switch box to ceiling box & want to use a digital wall controller. Fan came with wireless remote- receiver fits in hood. This thing has a watt limiter in it & if you exceed 180 watts, it shuts down. Calls for 3- 60 watt bulbs. If you put 3 60 watt bulbs & figure in the fan too- you are over. So- I checked reviews on fan & it's horrible- all having issues w/ the remote receiver shutting down or limiting watts so fan or lights are low. In the instructions, it says you MUST use the wireless remote transmitter & receiver & you can't use a wall controller of any kindat all. Can someone explain why> What's the difference? If I can use my new wall switch to control fan & light- it's going back.

Just my .02 I would return the fan (super easy to return / exchange at HD) and get a fan that lists wall mount option. I just installed 3 wall mounted control fans using 14/3, all work great, no issues, really like having the light and fan on separate switches wall mounted.
Unfortunately I can't answer your question and have no idea why the fan you purchased only lists the remote install options and don't know the difference between that and another. Good luck and let us know what you find out, please.

There must be some type of electronic control module inside the fan. If it was me and I really liked the fan, I would take it apart, gut the controls and rewire it to work like a normal fan.

Wife loves the fan. It's just a fan to me. The light kit just plugs into 2 leads from above. A blue & a white wire. The transmitter & receiver are loose in the box & wire into the 4 wires from fixture. Black for fan, blue for light, white for neutral & green for ground. That in turn wires to the black, white & ground in box. I don't see anything special here. The receiver is then secured to that basket thing that holds the ball from light with 2 screws. Instructions say the receiver must be used for fan speed & brightness. There are no pull chains on fixture. Even wall switch must be defeated so fixture is hot all the time. Who invents this stuff?

Only electronic control I see is the receiver for remote. It controls everything.
