Ceiling fan wiring

I need help on this one: Bought two ceiling fans, wired on same circuit since they will always run together. The fans have black, white and ground.
The controller that came with the fans indicates that it has more than enought capacity to run both fans, so I wired it up to run both. it can reverse both also. The problem is that at low speeds, the controller heats up a lot. In fact, it melted into one speed. Doh!
So I ordered a Canarm industrial fan contoller. It is reversable. It wants red blue black white and ground from the fan motor though.
Is this beyond hope? Can I make this work? Can I keep the reversable?
Help please!

I think yYour problem is you have single speed motors in the fans that depended on the controller for speed control.
The controller you bought expects multi speed motors in the fans.
I don’t think you can do it with what you have.

I think you are right. Any switch recomendations? I would like to be able to reverse if I can. Guess I should have kept the fans on 2 circuits.

Check the Lutron fan controls -- I believe you can get extra canopy modules that will all respond to one wall control. Use one module per fan.

Thanks for the input. I just got a hd variable controller, and run it them one direction only. Pretty cheap solution anyhow. And it mixes the air well with the high ceiling.
