Checking oil

not a bad idea, is that special hose? Or will most clear plastic hoses hold up against oil?

I bought it at the auto parts store. It holds up fairly well, just put a new one on that blue eng, must have been there 8 yrs although I could have replaced it once. It was getting hard and dirty, not beyond use but for a dollar I put new on. Nice to be able to check at a glance or while it is running.
I put tie wrap on at level.
If I have to field change it I take gallon zip lock bag for filter and 10 qt empty chemical jug.

i was wondering about the hardness, i seen it done before with plastic getting rock hard. i bet if you bumped it, it would shatter.

How did you attach the ******* to the pan? If welded, what type?

On the blue one a common piece of black ****** on the bottom and a half coupling welded on the side. The white one was either a 1/4 coupling cut in half, or a reducing bushing works, some I have welded on a structural nut, bored and tapped, put 3/8 90 degree hose barbs on. There are probably a thousand ways to do it. Its nice to be able to see oil level with them running. I have never let one go to the point of the hose getting hard where its an issue, so easy to replace.

I know we do ones similar like that for the 55 gallon drums of hydrulic oil when we despense it and everything

Engines on water pumping units. I like and need to check every start up and nice to see them when running.
