Hi all,

My wife and I are choosing between the CHI 5600 and Haas American Tradition garage doors.

It looks like CHI has a wood-grain look on the overlay that has wider tiger stripe grains and Haas is more of narrow vertical lines. Additionally, CHI’s steel panels seem to have a much more glossy sheen, and Haas seems more matte.

Lastly, the CHI has 1” larger windows and also has an extra horizontal overlay strip below the windows, whereas Haas has smaller windows and no overlay strip.

We really like the design layout of the CHI door, but are worried that the finished door will have too much of a shiny look. The Haas door seems to have a more matte finish, which we think will go better with the house, but we don’t love the layout as much.

I guess our question is whether anyone has any context/expertise on these 2 doors? Does the sheen of CHI become less pronounced over time? Any other considerations we should think of?

I’ve posted the photos of the two below, but you can’t really see the sheen on the CHI door in the picture. Note we have settled on using the “A” frame style, the pictures are more to see the wood grain on the overlay.

Hahaha! That’s hilarious because my wife wants just the handles and no hinge and I said no hinges? and she said no! That’s why she makes these decisions.

Any context on the high gloss chi vs relatively lower gloss haas, or the doors in general?
