Chicago Pneumatic tools

I've been looking at die grinders, pneumatic rivet squeezers, and other air tools. I've never used a Chicago Pneumatic but they're wayyy up there in price (similar to Dotco). Are they worth the money? Has anyone used anything from them?

I have a small air drill from CP that is really nice. Don't have much experience with CP other than that. I have heard good things though.
Ingersoll Rand usually makes a pretty good tool at a mid range price.

They make good tools, right now I have a drill, cut off tool, and pistol grip die grinder. Seems like their impacts last forever for whatever reason. Most every truck shop has ancient CP 1" and 3/4" impacts for tires and suspension.

I have a couple. They are good. No idea what I paid. Just never buy the cheapest ,,, well I do have a $15 Bulldog die grinder that is used more than any air tool in my shop and it still works great after 7 years! I did not buy it��

Harbor freight butchered the great Chicago Pneumatic name with their central pneumatic offerings so, I guess imitation and deceit might me the highest form of flattery

Seriously though, Chicago Pneumatic makes some quality air tools. I've own/owned CP air ratchets, impacts, and drills over the years and all have served me well.

I own a CP air impact wrench I purchased back in the early 1970's and it has been a nice tool. I haven't been using it very often like some people do.

I'll have to second this, we have several impacts (1/2 & 3/4) that my grandpa bought new!

No, they aren't a 2235TiMAX, but they aren't too shabby either.

Very good, just watch out as like IR they have a lower line made in China. Back in the day they used to be one of if not the name in air tools.

30 - 40 years ago, CP was all that a professionals would use ! Not true in impact wrenches today.

I think most people would agree that the CP717 is STILL the king of air hammers. The .498-Inch diameter chisel shank is a bit of an issue

I have several CP tools, all in all I probably have close to 50 air tools. Dotco, dynabrade, CP, IR, snap on, mac, bluepoint and matco. I don't have any harbor freight tools, tried their die grinder once and it had to much vibration for me. Buy a good tool once, keep it oiled and it will last you a lifetime.

CP make two lines of tools. One industrial and one DYI. Their industrial tools are comparable to Dotco, Cleco, industrial IR...etc. Their DYI stuffs are better than HF. Alot of the MAC and Matco air tools are rebadged CP. Don't get confuse with Central Pneumatic tools. They are the bottom end of air tools.

A good friend of mine has a large array of Chicago Pneumatic air tools, they are all over a decade older than I am, and still work flawlessly. I got an old CP 1/2" impact from an auction. Seems as strong as my couple year old IR231G.

Ive got quite a few CP tools that were made over in Utica NY before they moved south(?) 15'ish years ago, top quality stuff as far as I'm concerned.

These confirm my suspicions that they're top quality tools and worth the price. I'll have to keep my eyes out on eBay and auctions as the brand new stuff is a little too pricey for me right now.
