I believe there should be a post requirement to post in the classifieds. Something like 25 or 50 like every other forum I've been on. Keeps the one posters from posting something that they aren't going to sell any way, because they have no stock in GJ. What are others thoughts on this?

Not sure how that would work. If you had something now that you wanted to sell would you want to have to make 25 or 50 posts before you could sell it ?

I hear what you are saying as I know it would be good in some ways but not others.

Spammers come on and make 8 to 10 posts before they get found and banned.

I wouldn't have minded it. I actually made a post about how long I should wait to make a classified post. I think its wrong to be able to make your first post a for sale thread. If nothing else its disrespectful and have no use to the forum. Even if it was 15. I think that would be sufficient

Also, I know the mods do the best they can. But I've seen a few people break very clear rules posting in the classifieds. Main one that comes to mind is the 72 hour bump. I've done my part to try to clean it up, but feel I'm not getting anywhere. Im not at anyone, i love this place. Just giving a little input

Input is always appreciated. What about after say 10 posts ? If they are a spammer we have found them before that time. I hear your suggestion and do see the value. Like you I also see many posts that could often be seen as being rude or even showing no care for the forum rules.

See if any other mods chip in on this topic.

10 Posts would be sufficient. I would also like to reestablish enforcement of the 72 hour bump rule. As I've said I know its hard for mods to catch every last post. I even seen one guy catch himself. I seen Bull post on a guys thread reminding him, seen others been locked. But how can one that gets bumped everyday not be seen? Or maybe something has been done I can't see? Again, not mad or ranting, just constructive criticism if you will. Keep up the good work guys!

Bump for more input

Also, could there be a way to have the classified rules automatically pop up for first time conditions with a timer on that screen before they post?

Say I'm a first time poster, before I get to the post, the rules pop up and require me to at least state, hopefully read for 60 seconds, and click "Accept rules and conditions".

Maybe?

After you've been here a while you'll see that threads are brought back to life a lot. Posts years old, back to life. Three or four days is nothing.

Like they say "Fences are for honest folks". I have seen that forum admins require min posts, but not just posts, real interaction. I have also seen restrictions put on serial-listers that are not financial supporters of the forum to only one item a month. I know running these forums right is a costly venture, so if you are profiting from it, then "share that burden" is the thinking.

There is no "right" answer on this, its really up to the mods / owner as to how they choose to implement (or not) a classifieds area.
