Hello,

I am considering putting a clear coat over Rustoleum Rock Solid. I just applied in on Saturday. Is there a time limit to add a clear coat? Can I put another manufacturers clear coat over it like Rust bullet?

RockSolid allows for up to 7 days to recoat when using their own product. They have a clear coat that you could use. As far as different brand products are concerned, we recommend that you let the coating cure first and then degloss it by roughing up the surface well with 120 grit sandpaper in order to achieve a mechanical bond.

Many polyurethane and polyurea clear coats work well with standard epoxy when recoating within the correct window of time. RockSolid, however, is a proprietary formulation of epoxy, polyurea, and polyurethane. No one that we know of has tested if anything other than RockSolid's own product will chemically adhere well or not.

Any of our topcoats cand be applied over cured Rock Solid. Let cure, light stuff up with floor buffer and '3M' type pad or 120-150 sandpaper and wipe down with denatured alcohol before applying.

Our SPGX polyurea hybrid would be a great choice. Add some nonskid though into the topcoat.
