I have an intermittent clacking noise coming from my Chinese made U.S. Falcon HTA-65 compressor (yt vid link below of it clacking). Sometimes it does this and sometimes it will go through a whole pump up cycle without any clacking.

Hate to say it, but it has been like this for a year (maybe more), since I have had no time to fix it. As of now it still functions normally. I just don’t want to ignore it anymore. It would be a shame for it to fail catastrophicly its a simple fix. Maybe its a simple valve adjustment?

Does anyone have experience with these types of compressors? I would like to get some opinions from folks that have been inside and/or rebuilt one of these before I take it out of service, open it up, and maybe turn this into a bigger deal than it needs to be. Thanks.

I agree with AP. Also make sure the flywheel is tight on the shaft. My ancient Quincy was making a similar noise a few years ago and it was the fleywheel.

FWIW, this is a Fu Sheng pump. H in HTA signfies it is a 2 stage pump. 65 refers to the 65mm bore.

Sounds like a belt slapping something to me.
