Compressor pump rotation direction

Does it make a difference? I am wiring up a new motor. Will run either direction. The pump does have a flywheel with an arrow pointing CCW facing flywheel. However, I have had this compressor since new and it was always turning CW facing flywheel. I wonder if this was intentional or did Ingersoll Rand mess up. Have it run as delivered or reverse rotation?

The blades should blow air toward the pump.
The arrow is correct. Go by it.
CCW sounds right.

OK, switched direction. Seems to come up to pressure just fine. Me thinks the pump doesn't know the difference and never seemed to run excessively hot before. Head temp. with gun 110 degrees either way.

The head doesn't care but the oiling system may. I would have to confirm how the oiling system works before I would randomly reverse the direction of a piston pump..

I checked on the oiling. Ingersoll Rand T-30 pump uses splash lubrication from a slinger on the connecting rods. So should be good either way.

If the oil slingers are actually little scoops, such as was on the old Chevy216, they will only work one direction.
