concrete floor pitting

hi all, unfortunatly living in northeast Ohio we have some pretty harsh winters here I'm wondering what I could do to seal the pitting on the floor from the salt dripping off of the car when I park it, can I use some Thompson water seal or something to put down on the pitted areas? I'm open for suggestions

Dependig on how badly pitted it is, you might have to resurface. Grinding will not get into the pitted area. Maybe shot blasting, but you then would have to patch every little pit, again depending on how many and how large.

I use a portland cement urethane slurry mix with a broadcast and polyurea top coat. Goes down about 1/4" to 1/2" thick. As apposed to a standard epoxy or polyurea system being 1/16" thick. you can take a hammer to the my slurry mixed, once cured, and it will only dent and not shatter or crumble.

This is widely used for heavily pitted or detiriorated concrete.

Thompsons Waterseal... My dad always told me that if I didn't have anything nice to say that I shouldn't say anything at all. I miss the mark on that advice alot... but... here is my chance. Thompsons Waterseal probably has the best MARKETING and ADVERTISING on the planet. * Ignores talking about the actual product... lol...

Thompsons Waterseal would be the last option I would suggest right after 'make your own out of linseed oil and beeswax'. (Whoops... clouding up that mark again...) Most PU modified concrete formulations would certainly work. There is also Epoxy modified concrete formulations that are easier to apply and outperform most PU modified. This technology is relatively new and would probably be hard to find for a DIY application. Epoxy mortar patch kits are an option... I also think a good FLEXIBLE 100% solids PU or Epoxy self-leveling system would be fine too... of course... we don't know what the extent of your pitting is since you did not specify or post any pics... *hint hint

There are tons of options... but... there is no way to steer you to the right one without knowing the details... hope this helps...
