Currently having a 20x24 being built. Looking for ideas on floor. I want low or no maintenance and something that looks vintage. Not pretty just old looking. I don't have an issue leaving as is, but the wife thinks we should do something with it.

I just posted in gallery what we did with the OSB this weekend and want to match the "feel" we have going. Thanks.

You could use some dyes - black, cola, amber, or whatever your choice. Spray on using a pump sprayer using water or denatured alcohol as your carrier. Mixing 1 or 2 capfuls into a gallon will give you a less pronounced color, great for accenting or subtle colors.

Then you could densify and use a matte penetrating sealer. You'd apply those with a pump sprayer as well and spread with a microfiber mop.

Thanks for replying. What kind of drying time, foot traffic and car traffic is required?

With a system like this dry times wouldn't be much of a factor. After you dye, the densifier would probably take an hour to apply, an hour or two to dry. The sealer is an hour to dry for foot traffic, 24 hours chemical resistance and 7 days full cure.

Keep in mind this is a pretty affordable option so it is not going to have the BEST chemical resistance.. But as long as you clean up spills in a timely manner it should work OK for what you are looking for.

I was pretty surprised at the cost of polishing and dye. Can't remember the number, but it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it was.

Never got to use it, because that business model was mothballed until next year; but if I decide to bring it back, I'm certainly going polished. I can't comment on the durability, but my word that can be **** as hell.
