I'm going to change out an existing light socket with this and thread this into the hole. Only problem is that neither Lowe's or HD has a pull elbow with two threaded ends (box to box). I was going to screw the other end into a 'T' conduit body but since I can only find an elbow with one threaded end, I will have to resort to securing a short length of EMT with the set screw, and do the same on the body. Is this allowed (installing a non threaded conduit into a threaded body)? My friend's electrical house is closed until Monday, so I will have to make do with whatever the big box stores carry.
From the 'T', I was going to either bend an offset so the EMT would lay flat, or use an offset ******. But yet again, HD doesn't carry the ****** with one threaded end and one set screw end. I went to Lowe's and they offset ****** they have is shorter than the HD one. If I were to use the HD one, I have no idea how I could adapt the threaded end to fit into a piece of EMT (going to the light fixture).
Another problem I face is attaching the conduit to my fixtures. Since I am using non threaded EMT, I presume I have to use this fitting.
Or should I forget using a 'T' body and the cover plate, and just replace the entire socket with an external box? I assume you cannot mix PVC and EMT conduits/fittings?
