conversion to natural gas from propane

got a ready heater 55,000 btu forced air heater that i use in the garage,it is propane powered,is there any way to convert this to natural gas or am i screwed?propane tanks are out of date,and my 100 lb one is more than likely the same.i have natural gas in the house,and would like to use it in the garage down stairs under my bedroom.

You'll need to change the valve and the orphace in the burner.

Manufacturer probably has a kit available.

The good news, somebody someplace is trying tomake the opposite conversion, so all you gotta do is find them and swap. If that doesn't work you can probably recover some cost selling the propane parts on ePay.

I just changed an overhead heater from propane to natural gas. Though you can just drill the burner orifice bigger in diameter, I purchased a new set. Sometimes the instruction manuals will give you the proper size for either fuel. If the heater has a pilot light, You most likely will have to adjust it.

Contact your natural gas supplier and they can help you select the proper orfice size. They have an interest in setting you up so you can burn their fuel. If they aren't interested in speaking on the subject, call the manufactuer of the heater.

If you are refering to what some call a torpedo heater, I have never seen one that runs on natural gas... doesn't mean they don't exist, but never seen one for sale. You would also need a new regulator.

I think he is. I have a kero Reddy Heater, made by Koering Co. This brand is now made by Desa. Their web site shows kero and propane, no natural gas heaters.
