Cool Plier/cutter set

I needed a set of end cutters and found this nice set with chanegable heads. Of course I have all the heads in other pliers, but the price ($19.99) was right. Very high quality, good metal, lifetime warranty.

I bought some snap ring pliers that were kind of the same. They sit cause they are more a gimmick than a real tool. Get good quality of the real thing and you will never look back.

I picked up a set of these at a garage sale yesterday. I immediately tried them out when I got home. The side cutters snipped a piece off of a stainless steel stiffener from an old winshield wiper blade no problem. Changing the heads is quick and easy. I will quite likely get the end cutting nipper and straight needle nose head, plus the tool holster. I think they will be a valuable addition to the toolbox for this old reitred A&P mechanic.
As for the Shopsmith, I have a Mark 5, with jointer and scroll saw attachments. I love the thing! I would like to find a bandsaw attachment. It takes less than five minutes to convert from drill press to table saw, or from table saw to lathe. I have used the drill press to drill 5/8 holes in 3/16 mild steel, and I have used the table saw to cut .060 6061-T6 aluminum.

I contacted Keson about getting accessories for the HLS-1130 plier set. They quit making them several years ago.
Too bad. I rather like the set I got!
If anybody has heads for one of these, or the complete set (all heads and holster), I would be interested in buying them.

Like all tools, it depends on the operator. They take time to set up and change from tool to tool and, yes they have limitations. You're not going to cut full sheets of plywood very easily but I've seen some really incredible work come from very small shops that used the ShopSmith.

That's the tradeoff of a compound action. But you get increased leverage.

I don't like compound action pliers for everyday use, but they do come in handy when I need some extra crushing power.

That'd be good for a road box where space is limited, but more aggravation than they're worth in the shop.
