Correct way to ship a vise?

What is the correct way to ship a vise? Does anyone have any suggestions or pics on how to correctly ship a vise without it getting chipped or broken? I think pics and advice would help alot of people with this problem.

The best way is to build a crate and bolt it in.

This shipment weighed almost 50lbs and shipping cost was a lil over $40 from MI to the MS gulfcoast via fedex ground, in comparison I have received baby wiltons in a usps flat rate medium size box and the shipper paid almost $25... YMMV!

Correct way? Why ship it to me of course. In seriousness. Look into shipping via Fastenal. I found it far cheaper than the UPS. Make a wooden crate for it, brace so it can not move and is secure.

It fits, but it deforms the box in the middle. The game board box is so long that the end flaps still close properly.

I asked the postal inspector and he said as long as the end flaps can close properly, it will ship.

Definitley lots of layers of cardboard or a combo of cardboard and foam, foam with packing tape wrapped around it works very well because foam keeps a nice thick barrier between the outer layer of a shipping box, its also much lighter than using wood like above ^
