I have one of my guys refurbing a classroom at work. We took up the existing cove base because it was a very light color, caved in at spots and the wax buildup between the floor and the cove base was so thick it needed to be removed with a scraper.

What do you guys like, Rubber, thermoplastic rubber or vinyl base?

I have seen many commercial buildings with the black 4 inch rubber/vinyl base molding. It looks reasonably good, wears quite well, and is easy to install since you just use adhesive to glue it to the wall.

I buy/sell the Johnsonite brand , usually 6" vinyl, the 50' rolls are nice because you don't have to mess with seems by most buy the 4' strips because they are easier to handle... I get hem from Sherwin Williams. Inpro corp has good stuff as well. Sherwin Williams sells it as well.
These are nstalled in nursing homes in my case.
