Cracks and Patches

Hi Folks

I have been prepping my garage for an epoxy paint for a while now.. I'm now getting ready to fill in cracks and patches. There are many small patches needed because there were leaves falling on the floor when it was first poured.

I have used rustoleum's concrete patch before. It worked great.. but it was not transparent.. meaning that it was obvious that I had patched the concrete. One thing I didn't do was sand it when I put it down.. If I recall, this was pretty tough with my two hands. Any suggestions on a good product that will not show through? (I don't have access to any sanding equipment, other than my own elbow grease). Thanks...

Regardless of the concrete crack and patch repair product that you use, you will need to grind the repair work so that it won't telegraph through the coating. Think of fender and body repair for a car. If you don't sand the repair to blend with the rest of the metal it's going to show through like a sore thumb.

Some exceptions are fine crack repairs where a sharp edged putty knife can lay a smooth line down, but anything more than that you run the risk of it showing.
