craftsman47, thanks for the heads up on this deal!

I just got back with mine; out the door for $65.01. To save myself a 50 mile round trip to the closest Sears, I checked the online availability of this item at this store and it showed one in stock. I added it to my basket and proceeded to 'checkout' when on that page I got a message "We're sorry, the following item(s) and/or quantity are no longer available at the store you selected.See more information below. ". I then called the store to double-check and the tool department clerk put me on hold to check inventory and dropped the call. lol

I called back and spoke to a lady in the tool department who was very knowledgeable and helpful. She verified that they indeed had one left in stock at the 'clearance' price of $59.97. I tried to use my Visa to buy it while she was on the line and she told me for a clearance item, I had to use a 'Sears-Mastercard'; my Visa wouldn't do it - WTF! She said that since I was cutoff and that I had a drive of 25 miles, she would put a hold on it for me; something that is normally not done for clearance items. I got my **** in the truck and drove there to pick it up; mission accomplished!

Oh, I had thought about going through the paperwork to get a 'Sears-Mastercard' to get another $15.00 knocked off the first purchase, but when I saw they charge an APR of 25.24% :shocking: , I decided to pass even though I always pay any credit card off before any interest kicks in.

One more thing that might be useful to you guys. When your local store's web page shows an item in inventory, on 'clearance' items, the 'checkout' page automatically gives you the message in quotes above. The saleslady said that is because clearance items are 'handled' by a different branch of Sears , so it's best to call the store and verify the item is there or not.

I'm a happy camper with this great price on a decent box, but it reinforces my belief that Sears is trying REALLY hard to lose business.:lol_hitti

Got the sold out message so I took a chance and called the store directly. They had one in stock so I jumped on it.

Thanks OP

Hi Everybody,

I saw the first post of this thread late Friday night and went straight to the link. It came up at $59 and showed only one remaining at my local store (and within 50 miles). I immediately ordered it and payed for it with PayPal; like $64. Got the confirmation email from Sears within minutes and got the "Ready for pickup" email at 10:10 AM Saturday morning. I went to pick it up this afternoon. Scanned the barcode on the pickup email and 2 minutes later the clerk brought it out of the stockroom. The cardboard box was perfect, not a hole or dent on it. Nevertheless, I opened it right there and fully inspected the chest. It was perfect. Awesome experience.

Did you guys know that this chest weighs 67 pounds empty? That is alot. It is heavy duty and very well made. It looks identical to a Waterloo chest I bought about 8 years ago right down to the dividers in the top section. I believe this chest is made by Waterloo although I can find no indication of COO on it or the packaging.

Could not be happier with this item; regular price of $240 for $59. Amazing. Kinda makes me wonder why they priced it so low. Perhaps, they are clearing out existing stock in preparation for launching a line of tool storage made overseas. I guess we'll see.

Has anybody else gotten theirs? Are you happy with it?

Many thanks to the OP for posting this for us.

John in Raleigh.

Got one... it's just ok. Sheet metal is thin as with CM Boxes nowdays. Very good deal overall and very usable box, however my 1990's ball bearing CM chest is a TANK compared to this thing.

I got all three of mine today at store pickup. Boxes were perfect and heavier than I expected. Personally for the money I spent I couldn't have gotten anything near as good as this.

Happy I am!
