Craftsman Craftsman 9 PC Combination Wrench Set Black Oxide Finnish 3/8, 7/16, 1/2, 9/16, 5/8, 11/16, 3/4, 13/16, 7/8"

They are claiming these are 70% off... Price starts at $19.49 for the set. They are marked Industrial so they should be USA made. I have not seen any Industrial that wasnt (yet).

These are ship-able from Searsoutlet... 6.95 flatfee shipping applies (***** as I have free shipping on regular sears and partner sites but not on searsoutlet!)

Not a bad deal, the industrial line is good stuff. Too bad they are phasing it and the professional line out.

they'd a 14(?) pc metric set for little less than $100 a week or so ago, only for a few days. Maybe someone from this board ordered that.

but yes sears.com is known for screw-ups like this. they just want those who bought it for less feel good about it.

My set came in today. They look liked like hell and needed to be cleaned up. Looks like they shipped them in a heavy layer of grease. Cleaned that off and gave them a very lite coating of oil. Now I have a nice set with two of the 11/16ths as I had purchased one when it was listed for $1.57...

Is this the polished set or the raised panel industrial set?

Disregard I missed the black oxide sentence in the first post. Have any pics?

what oil do you use and is that to prevent rust? i've some RP craftsman wrench sets that developed rust in my lower level dark room, away from the wife. Yet they're made in USA ("forged in usa"). it's only < 2 years since i got them when the local searshardware store was still in biz. In summer, my lower level is somewhat humid even though it's mostly above ground. but i blame it on the poor finish. would the sears dept store swap them out on warranty?

if anyone has specific tips on what oil, spray to use to prohibit rust, on tools like wrenches, i'm all ears. thx

thx all for the suggestions. wd40 sounds like something more readily available. although Fluid Film may actually work better. looks like i'll have to get FF online.

they have those 1 or 5 gal fluid films for undercoating the car. even w an suv, you'll need it on a lift to be able to get a good shot of air spraying the stuff at it, right? i think regular jack is too low for this work.
