Craftsman Wall Cabinets

I am in the process of trying to organize my parents garage. They have a lot of junk they don't want to part with so its hard to give the garage a "Clean" look like most of you all have here. Anyways, my mom bought my dad a bunch of Craftsman line of cabinets, workbench, back board and floor cabinets. The floor cainets are GREAT but the wall cabinets just don't have a lot of storage room. They just are not deep enough. My only other beef with any of the cabinets is how you have to put them together. If you have big hands, its almost impossible to get them together. I will post pics as soon as the other wall cabinet comes in and I put it up.

Yes I agree....I would take back to wall cabinets and just look into putting up shelves and those sorts of things.....also container buckets with lids work well when on shelves...especially if they are all one color if you want it looking tidy

Lowe's has a large selection of storage solutions that are really impressive...

Sometimes you need to be able to see all your "stuff" - i.e. using the wire rack shelving or baskets options rather than storing it in a closed cabinet system.

I've been wondering about the Closet wire shelving systems... the new tough stuff or whatever the name is... what makes it so much "tougher"? Better supports? Better wire/mesh? Both? Can you make the normal stuff just as tough? Or, is it the garage-grade black paint that makes them strong?

Wire

I went with the Closet maid grey garage wire shelving. 3 sets of 5 shelves. Two sets 4' wide and one set 6' wide.
It's much heavier and deeper than closet white wire. It has a hanger across the top so the vertical supports are both hanging and screwed into studs so it holds a lot of weight. No knee braces either.

I cut some 3/16 Lexan sheets so I could have a flat surface on the shelves and still get light through. Solid shelves darken the area to much.

It's not cheap but it just depends on the look you want. I put Gladiator cabinets between the wire shelving so I would have some wall cabinets. Together they look pretty good.
