UPFLOW LOL.Howdy. I installed a Cumberland 80,000 btu uplow furnace in My home in 95. In 96, after issues, I installed the 3793 upgrade kit, and performed the safety checks. "This kit is designed to convert any known Radianr sense ignition system furnace to a flame sense ignition system. A flame sense IFC is included in this kit" This was supplied no charge to Me by Cumberland. I used to be a Service Tech for Carrier, in Residential H/C, so I felt comfortable doing the install and the upgrade.
No issues from 96 until last winter. Several times, the unit went on lock out, code shows "Lockout, check line polarity". I rewired the entire house in 94, including weatherhead and panel. Inspected and passed , no other home electrical issues.
The unit didnt give any further issues, EXCEPT: I heard a late ignition, on one burner, when it ignited. No flame roll out shutdown was induced.. I pulled the entire burner rack, inspeced and cleaned and observed no issues, defects. I reinstalled the rack and fired it up, operated normally. This was last winter.
This morning, I realized the blower was still running, with no burner. It was flashing normal call for heat. I unplugged it and tried again, flashing normal call for heat. I unplugged and re-plugged flame sensor, high limit and all the accesible plugs. The unit fired and ran normally, EXCEPT, no ignite on the same burner as last year. It is of course, as Holiday weekend, and tomorrow it is suposed to get COLD. I am without parts until Monday, if I need any. Any ideas on the polarity/ no-slow ignite one burner issue? Thanks! Don
