Anybody know is this is an emergency stop button?

Not necessarily an emergency stop, but just a button switch. I suppose you could use it for most anything. Is it a momentary switch or maintained switch (in other words, does it make contact only when pressed and then the switch contacts open when you remove your finger?) It would make a neat button in the garage for the door opener.

I don't think it is momentary, but not positive. Probably just a manual on off or remote actuator switch. Why are you looking at purchasing it?

I don't understand the "sticks every third time" so maybe it is momentary?

Not an e-stop by modern standards....but I'm not sure they HAD e-stops in 1943.

Emergency stop buttons would be bright red and very visible, that might work as one but would not pass inspection as being one.

I `ve made an offer on it and I can retro fit a real stop start in the vintage box.
