Dayton Electric Heater Problem!!!

Hi i have a Dayton 3UG73 220v electric heater. I turn the thermostat all the way up and the unit turns on. But it will only blow lukewarm air, it barely heats up. I've let it run for an hour or two and i cant get it too heat up. Any ideas on what might be wrong with it? Thanks

Check to be sure you have 240 volt to the unit. Sounds like the unit is heating on 120 volt. Check volts with the unit on so you know the voltage when operating. If you have 240 volts then you need to get into the wiring diagram and check connections, relays and heating elements.

For what it's worth, I have a portable electric Dayton space heater 3uv36 and it is the same way? Brand new, plugged it into 220 cable for my table saw and I got more heat out of a $20 110volt under desk heater??? Are these things really worthless or what gives? Normally Grainger sells decent stuff - but this thing was almost $200 and I think I'm breathing hotter air. It is attempting to make heat (not blowing cold air), but it is nowhere near 5000 watts or 14,000 btuH that is advertised??
Any suggestions on fixing this - or an alternative?

Did the unit work before? Or is it not working right out of the box?

Some Dayton's from grainger are wired for 3 phase and must be changed for 1 phase. There should be a sticker that indicates which wires need to be moved.

The Dayton 3UG73 unit is single phase. It does have two heat settings. Do you have it set on the high setting?

I have a 2 year old Dayton G-73 220 heater.Are they a safe heater .If not why ????
