Design ideas needed!

Hi everyone, brand new to the forum but appreciative of all of your advice I’ve read so far!!

I just moved to a new home with a 2 car garage and I am at a loss for how to organize while still allowing for cars and watching sports. The picture shows the current state. Boxes on left are a bball hoop that won’t be there by end of week.

Does anyone have good economical (time and money wise) ideas that would look nice? Currently thinking about ceiling bike hoist and TV left of brick chimney, and need a new tool chest, but 100% open to any/all ideas.

Compromise spaces are hard. I'd buy heavy duty rivet lock commercial shelving that goes within 18" of the ceiling. Going vertical and using up every bit of the wall space to the ceiling is the only way to absorb clutter to keep the space open for cars. If you can afford cabinets with doors, they're even better than shelves. Usually cabinets not as tall, but you can put shelves above them to use that space.

One specific I'd do is put a workbench in the right corner, with shelves above made to use up the space where the chimney steps effectively. Pegboard between the window and front of garage; you don't want shelves up to the window edge as it blocks light and looks bad. Pegboards don't intrude into the walking space from the car doors as much as shelves either.

If you have power to the narrow space between the garage doors, mount a retractable cord reel there so you have ready access to power without the mess of cords on the floor or coiled up and hanging on the wall. That space, above the cord reel, might be good place to hang a bike. Hard to use for much else effectively.

Put a row of decent ceiling LED lights across about halfway between garage door and front wall. Use surface conduit for the electrical if you can't get above the ceiling to wire them in.

Outside corners between garage doors and side walls is a good space to put narrow cabinets, again near floor to ceiling, I keep paint cans, oil, anti-freeze, etc in those cabinets. You can put hangers to hold shovels, rakes, etc on the side walls just ahead of those cabinets without interfering with their use. Cabinets or shelves on side walls from there forward to swing zone of car doors works; don't have them in the swing zone or ahead of it where you walk forward from the cars.

If the walls are 10' high, you can install a continuous shelf 2' to 3' from the ceiling around the 3 walls of the garage. The shelves can be up to 3' wide each. All that stuff we all have but seldom use can now be put away but still accessible.

Looks like a young family. Maybe now is the time right off the rip to buy a 10x10/12 shed to get all the non-garage stuff out of the garage.

how to organize , you cant, just push everything in and slam the door, what good today will be outdated a week from now

So many great ideas, thanks guys!!! Will be following through on those shelves. Can you recommend a retractable extension cord? Preferably one I can add an existing cord to, as I have a million of them in a big box right now.

Already have an 8x10 shed, plan on putting the ride on in there but pool stuff is in there too and I haven’t figured out organization for yet either, haha

I used to have a workshop in my basement. A central bench with about 4 feet on either side. A huge space saver were cabinets with sliding doors ( lab style with glass in the doors). You could open the doors without anything swinging outward, would be perfect in a garage with cars in it.
