I'm wondering if anyone else has a network rack in their garage, I work in IT so its part of my hobby

My Garage is detached from the house, but connected via a breezeway. It means running cables is kind of a PITA

I realized that no matter how many ethernet drops I run over from the house, I will probably always be one short, meaning I need to do it all over again. So this connects back to my house via a 200ft OM3 Fiber Optic cable, which gives me 10Gb/s of bandwidth between the house and garage. Plenty for a wireless access point, 4 x CCTV Cameras and a few other things

It may be a little overkill, but whatever :p

Another reason the Fiber is useful is that I have plans to mount my ADS-B Flight Tracking antenna high up, and if I ever get a lightning strike, its one more thing that can't conduct electricity back to my main rack in the house

Currently just have a Cisco 2960-S Switch, a few Raspberry Pi's, a small Lenovo PC running ESXi and a nice UPS

The last picture is where the fiber runs back to in my house to connect back to the network

I ran a dedicated 20a circuit to it, just so any tools I run don't dip the power too much. I did this when I first moved in and never knew much, so it was a pain when I realized my garage doesn't have 16in on center studs, which is what the rack was expecting. I had to quickly learn how to add an extra stud in. Its mounted with 4 inch long 1/4" SPAX lags, so its plenty strong

Ignore the cabling... That will get neatened up one of these days before I put the walls up
