Do I wash / rinse after grinding?

OK, about to start my garage project this weekend. I will post a separate thread about that.

But in the meantime....

After grinding, do I just vacuum, or wash (with soap or acid or just water)?



I don't want to do just an etch, I need to grind a bit.

A good way is to add a small amount of detergent to water and broom it around liberally in about 60 sq.ft areas then immediately wet vacuum it up. The dust is held to some degree in suspension and the liquid is pulled up by the vacuum wand. You must follow that procedure after the floor is done with rinsing and wet vac.

It is a lot of extra work, but you get a very clean slab for maximum penetration and adhesion.

Another way is to make sure you have a good vac and an extra good wand that really ***** down on the concrete. Vacuum by holding the wand in the best suction position and walk backwards continuing to hold it in that position. This will get most of the dust out of the floor.
