Do you keep some heat in your toolbox?

I'm surely not the only guy to have a garage space in a **** neighborhood. It just occurred to me I'd feel a lot safer with a little snubnose in the toolbox just in case.

I'll probably take it to and from the shop with me and leave it in the toolbox while I'm here.

Anybody else do the same?

I'm comfortable with the legality, I'm not asking about that, just others experience doing the same.

I carry all the time. I'm too old to fight, too fat to run. I wouldn't keep it in my toolbox

I don't "pack heat" but I do conceal carry. Usually a primary .45 auto with a backup .32 ACP. I always have a Ken Onion assisted opening folder and in some situations, an ASP baton. Never put them in a box, glove box or anywhere else. If and when you ever need one, you should never have to call timeout and ask the crook to wait until you get your gun.

Heaven help the folks that keep a trigger lock on the gun and keep their ammo separate from the gun. Do they think the bad guys are going to wait on them to unlock the firearm and then go fetch the ammo, load the gun and then get ready to shoot?

I just use my wrecking bar. Gordan Freeman style. Seems I need it for every project anyways, so it's always within arm's reach...

And no, I'm not too concerned. If I was, I wouldn't live here.

No good option.

Remington 870's are cheap. I have one in the shop where I can get to it easily, and another in the house.

I also carry, though what I'm carrying depends on day/mood/alignment of the stars.

We still have some room in Oregon for good Californians.

Come north before the bad ones fill the place up.

Learn to carry it with you if you really want to have it when you need it. I have more holsters than I have guns and haven't found a garage or yardwork activity that prevented some way to have it on me if I feel the need.

Modern lightweight revolvers and compact autos make it easy today.

I'm glad someone got the 'heet' reference!

That hammerless snub nose is my ideal.

My shop is 25 mi away from my house, over in an industrial section in east LA. I stand out as a potential target for a lot of reasons I can't change, and have a lot of troubled people in very close proximity.

An 870 is a great idea, I used to own one long ago. I think a pocket gun is best for this situation, I want something discreet and portable.

I'm no tough guy, but I accept the consequences of my actions, in court if need be.

atari I thought I was the only one that noticed he hates everything.

I would carry, but going on Fort Hood and getting caught would be a Federal crime and I would have to go in front of a federal magistrate and they are not nice at all around here.
DWI on post usually gets you prison time. one customer who was on probation and was almost finished got popped on post and went up for 5 years......

You SCUMbag law-abiding citizen! Don't you realize there's no place for your kind here in California?

Sincerely,
Fellow scumbag law-abiding citizen in California

FWIW, apparently California has reasonably lax laws on knife carry.

I'm hoping to get my permit this fall. I'll probably get a S&W airweight or the equivalent from Ruger. I normally have my 45 in my truck(it's legal to have it loaded in your vehicle w/out a permit) And at home, well my Sig Sauer P226 9mm is always loaded close by, not to mention a shotgun or 2 hidden around.

What's your thought on a small gun safe while on base? I'm considering one while in camp on wildland fires.
