Early Equipment Ground

I’ve never seen this early version of ground protection. This was on the end of my Grand Fathers router. Yes, I replaced beforehand I used it. Not sure what the coupling to the connector looked like.

I vaguely recall something similar - too young and too long ago! What I remember had a forked sta-kon instead a barrel connector.

It was supposed to be a way to connect to the receptacle cover plate screw to pickup the system ground (hopefully). This was needed back in the day when 2 pole recepts was the standard.

Those were banned because of fears the loose wire would end up somewhere it could become a hazard.

Not the one your the link, but the same type as the OP's. It just had a forked stay-kon.

That reason alone makes the bullet connector better.

Never even gave it a thought that it would be anything other then a woodworking tool.

I can imagine a a recessed hole on the receptical with a male pin for the single wire
