Have you bought stuff off Public Surplus? I did for a number of years and got some great stuff. But with them it's all good till it's not.

I had the winning bid on a lot but when I went to pick it up it didn't match the pics in the auction. The employee admitted he used pics of items made by the same manufacturer and that they indeed did not match what I believed I was buying. I left the merchandise at the loading dock, went home and tried to request a refund. And that's where everything went south. Public Surplus insinuated I might be trying to defraud them and actually had possession of the items.

I had video of the entire transaction from the moment I entered the facility to when I left. If not for that video I probably would have suffered a loss of several hundred dollars.

They cancelled my account over this.

When buying from Public Surplus always CYA

I've bought a couple dozen things from them and only had an issue once - I bid on and won a low pressure paint sprayer from one of of the tool rental companies. When I got to Olympia to pick it up, they tried to give me some POS that was not even close to the one I won. I figured, here we go...

They looked up in their paperwork and realized they gave my sprayer to some guy who had won four lots altogether, and the POS was his. They called him on the phone and he said he'd bring it back the following morning. I live an hour away, so they trucked it up to their store near my house.

It's out in the shed and I still haven't painted my house four years later.
