I'm going to install this 5000 W ceiling heater in the garage:

Ceiling with be drywall, wire is 10 gauge NMD. I'm in Canada so under the CEC not NEC.
My question is how to terminate the wire at the ceiling. Do I need to install a device box to clamp the sheath, or can I simply poke the NMD through the drywall itself? I know the latter is allowed for light fixtures, but how about a large load like this heater? The installation instructions only say "Run the electrical supply cable up to the wiring compartment of the unit." Connections are done inside the unit, so no external AC wire needed like a wall hung unit heater.
Experience and advice is much appreciated!
