Electricity to Detached Garage

Hi everyone,

I'm in the process of converting my detached garage into a woodworking shop. I was originally working in the basement, but the spacing of the support beams and water heater and furnace didn't allow me the clearance for a table saw. What is the cheapest and safest way to supply electricity?
The center of the garage is 85 ft. from the GFI outlet in the basement. I was planning on buying a 10/3 Tri-Source 100 ft. outdoor extension cord and running it along the fence, (up about 5 ft) and possibly running it through pvc. I found the cord online for 75 bucks, with free shipping. The saw I just bought pulls 13 Amps at 120V. I would LOVE to wire up the garage now, but I'm already over budget. I'm hoping that by the end of the summer I can have my electrician come out and give me an estimate and hopefully do the work. I have no idea how much it would cost, and I'm afraid to find out! (I live in New Haven, CT).
The last thing i want to do is put a strain on my new saw, (Steel City 35990C). The electrical threads I read were a little over my head. From what I've read, the 10 gauge seems appropriate for the Amps at 100 feet, but I'm not sure if there are any other DIY options that are a bit more permanent. Such as running the wire and installing the panel, but actually hiring the electrician to make the connections.
I'm just looking for a little guidance.

I'd run the #10 cord until you can do it permanent.

Thanks Aceman. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't overlooking something. What's the most cost effective way to wire the garage? I think I'd like to do as much as I can, and then have the electrician do anything dangerous. There won't be anything requiring 220V or anything over 15 Amps in the garage. I think I'd need 2 outlets on the rear wall and one on the left wall.

Noting that you said to center of garage you still need a distance of first box, then to consider to add additional distance down the line for each piece of equipment!.

The circuit seems small over-all, and cord needs to be reated for underground use, I'd go bigger in everything.

OK, small in that your not taking all things into consideration, IE more power considerations that are unsaid.

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to run the 10/3 EC until I can afford to have the electrician come out. It actually just arrived today. Amazon Prime free shipping is amazing, that thing must weigh 30 pounds. Table Saw arrives tomorrow. Thanks guys.
