So i am going to be doing some electrolysis rust removal this weekend on my motorcycle exhaust. I have read that after the process is done you should dry the metal right away and rub oil on it to prevent surface rust from forming shorlty after. What im wondering is what type of "oil" should i use? WD-40, or somethign like that? i am going to be painting the pipes shortly after so i dont want the oil to affect the paint. What are your suggestions

no oil, throw it in the oven to dry and paint or primer immediatly. if you oil it you would create another can of worms when it comes time to paint.

the problem is that i dont think i will be able to treat the entire pipe at once with the 4 header pipes and then into the 4 which goes to the slip on pipe. I have found somehing called eastwood metal wash.
dry compound that is mixed with water. removes grease and oils from bare metal, and leaves behind corrosion inhibitors that prevent flash rusting and promote paint adhesion.
