When you are looking for wiring for projects, don't forget to check the electrical section of Lowes and Home Depot for ends of rolls and precut pieces.

Some stores will price them the same as usual, but some will give you a discount.

I just went in a Lowes in Ludington, MI and found a 21' piece of 12/4 SOOW on the end of a spool. Normal price of $1.65. But there was a sign for 1/2 price for precut pieces. Got the associate to put that price on the tag. So I got it for less than the price of the 14/3 SOOW that I needed. Now I can run the same size as my wiring from the outlet to panel.

And when you go to garage sales, keep an eye out for wire too.

I just went to one and got about 10' of 14/3 SO-A for a buck.

Also picked up 2 20' 15A heavy use (SJTW-A) extension cords for a buck each and a CR50 10A x 50' portable hose reel for $8. Made in Canada.
