With all the fuss about the $30 Esco jackstands, I thought I throw up some pics, plus a Hein Werner closeup for comparison. Sorry if they're too big. C'est la vie.

BTW: The smell was present, but not super bad. I think it's the Chinesium in the rubber pad.

Those all look like they have not obvious defects. Are they all supports square with the bases/posts? There were a couple issues reported with some not being aligned square, and others missing finish on the posts, which may lead to a surface rust.

They are rated double the strength of normal stands base on the Amazon reviews of the HW versions. The HW is 6k per pair or 3k each, and the ESCO is 12k/pair or 6k each. Also the HW bases are china made and only the inserts are USA (again per the amazon reviews, YMMV).

These are rated at 3 tons each, or 6 ton per pair (same as HW, US Jack, etc.). Most cheaper store brands are rated per pair (usually 3 tons per pair).

Well, it doesn't look like the person who welded those stands was very skilled but I'll bet that they'll do their job just fine.

I admit that it looks as much like seam sealer as anything, but the price was reasonable. I have a bit of a superstitious fear with ratchet posts, which is silly, but these should be fine I think.

I'm always surprised that humans weld anything at all anymore in the world of mass production. I suppose that jackstands simply aren't made in high enough volume, and Chinese labor is still cheap enough, that this makes sense.

Anyhow, I thought I'd post some actual pictures in case someone was on the fence in terms of ordering these for roughly $128 for four.

Just to be clear, my understanding is 3T per each is (3x2000=) 6k pounds/each stand. The HW stands are rated at half of that, 3T per pair (this according to online reviewers). Apologies if there was a KG/pound confusion or something.

Whislt I could be wrong, the stands are clearly labeled, and other websites also seem to agree, eg below link. http://www.floorjackshop.com/top-rated-jack-stands-for-safety/

Each ESCO stand is able to support up to 3 tons of weight

If there is a conflictnig account somwhere maybe could you post up some inks? I'd be happy to edit the earlier post if it is in fact wrong :dunno:

Sorry, I typo'd. Meant to say that the Esco are 3 tons individually, or 6 tons per pair as you thought. I thought HW rated theirs the same way, but I might be mistaken (their website isn't clear). I do believe US Jack rates theirs individually.
