Extended crimp **** connectors

Has anyone found such a thing as an extended crimp style **** connector? I often find myself repairing wires in a harness where I need to cut out just a bit, maybe 1/4" to 3/8" of the wire. This causes a bump in the rest of the harness and likely stresses the inserted **** connector. I hate the idea of cutting off a longer hunk and installing a small piece with two **** connectors in order to get it to sit flat.

Has anyone ever seen a 14-16ish ga **** splice that has maybe a 1/2" or so of extra material in the middle instead of having the wires touch?
