Faulty gfci

I am confused. Kids bathroom gfci outlet, come home and no power in their bathroom. Step 1, I try to reset the gfci but it will not reset. I go turn off circuit breaker designated to upstairs bathroom(#4). As I am unscrewing outlet to check out connections/wires, I notice red light is on the gfci. I stop and grab hair dryer and plug it in and hair dryer works!!! I am positive I turned off correct circuit breaker as I replaced this gfci outlet 5-6 years ago. Other than turning off power to house and then replacing the gfci outlet, what can I do to troubleshoot this wiring issue??

Plug a radio in that outlet and go find the correct breaker.

GFCI's go bad, like anything-else. I had an exterior-placed Levitron in a CBS wall box, with a water-resistant in-use bubble cover go-bad < 2 years after a re-model, using an electrical contractor, and another inside too which I had to replace.

I disassembled it to see what had happened, and found burned-out components. I'm keeping an eye on any others installed at the same time, no issues.

Sounds like the circuit is mis-labelled, though. "Listen to the radio" (above) to i.d. the correct circuit.

When a GFCI goes out on me... I replace it with a Breaker GFCI.
