You guys helped me heat my garage for the winter. Ended up just heating part of it in my shop/mancave 15x20 with a Dayton G73.

I am now starting to plan ahead for spring and air conditioning! If I wanted to cool the larger portion of my actual garage which is 1200 square feet with 9 foot ceiling and very well insullated. What are my best options?

I only need to cool it to around 79-80 degrees. I only keep my house at 79 or 80 most the time during the summer so that will be my garage too. I also have 3 ceiling fans hung in this 1200 sq foot area.
We live in Iowa so we do see 2-4 weeks of 95 to 100 temps during the summer, but most the time it is 85-92 from July through early September.

I am wired with 200 amp service and have PLENTY of open circuit boards and already have 2 outlets wired for 30 amp service with 4 prong outlets.

What do you guys think? Here is an image of what I would be cooling.

In the midwest with normal insulation a 2 ton unit would work well and give you decent recovery.

Yep, those split systems are nice. We run a bunch of Mitsu Mr. Slims as well as the City Multi. You can less expensive options in split systems than Mitsu, like Fujitsu, Sanyo, and others. For a space that size you might want 2 wall cassettes, mounted in different areas. Or a ceiling mounted cassette that blows from 4 sides.

The ceiling cassettes are the most efficient typically. Also at least the Mr. Slim units allows you to tap in a 4" line to bring in some outside air. Somewhat helpful to keep a bit of fresh air coming in.

I cool my 30 x 50 with 2 - 23,000 window units. I have 10' eves and about 14' peak.
