50yrs old & I finally have a Garage

When i was a kid working on stuff in my dads garage i knew i would have a nice garage of my own when i got older little did i know i would have to wait until i was 50yrs old before i could actually afford one.. IF i can ever get photos to load in a timely fashion i will show her off.. i have tried twice to shrink them down and they still time out before loading.... Thanks everyone I have windows 7 but did download irfanview and got them small enough.. It is a 30x40x12 Rhino as you can see snow caught us mid build so we covered with a two tarps and kept going!! I will post some interior photos soon we are just finishing up the walls...

i have tried twice to shrink them down and they still time out before loading....

The easiest program I've ever used for resizing photos is irfanview - plus it's a free, small download. Takes only second to download and even I with my limited computer skills can use it. I use 600X800 size for online photos, quick to upload and still plenty big enough for details to show.

I will give it a try my son actually works for an IT dept and teaches computer engineering but he rolls his eyes when i ask him to show me a new trick!!! I am frustrated i finally have a garage to show off and cannot post the dang photos granted she is nothing special but its all mine and paid for well mostly....

Its a Rhino kit... I do not have much to compare it with but everything fit good except one beam was missing hole for rods on one wall section.. I also would have LOVED a couple of photos or diagrams instead of part c goes into part d with bolts #1243 or #12435 just me perhaps.... Thanks for looking

Since the inside is so cluttered at the moment i am unable to get many good interior photos but here is a couple, I just finished insulating the doors myself more photos to follow will be doing some painting soon...

the light location is an optical illusion or camera angle i installed the light with the long cord while i was building the garage & before i installed the four 6-bulb high bay from Lithuania wish i would have hung 6 now...

I purchased the 30x40x12 building from Rhino after some back & forth ended up at $10,000 & change delivered included insulation & un-insulated garage doors,(my bad) the man door was insulated, the concrete cost me $6000 and the Whip lift i purchased used for $1700 installed it looks new came out of a local ford garage... I had to build it as reasonable as i could so i did the electrical with the help/sign off from a licensed electrician.

You weren't always 50 years old... I started wrenching on pedal bikes and then motorbikes on a dirt floor of a lean-to beside our barns. I did repairs for years on a cement pad or sidewalk... now I have a bike lift in my fourth garage after rebuilding two garages/homes... As i get older, I want to sit on the floor less... In fact my picture is me sitting on the floor fixing one of the bikes...

I was truly a "shade tree mechanic" i cannot imagine how many screw, washers and bolts are buried in the back yard lawn... when i was young i worked in my dads garage although VERY small it worked... jwj

Congrats on "finally" getting your shop. It's going to add untold numbers of great hours and days to your life! I bought our house off a gentleman who was TOO tight with his money - and although he put a pit in the 2-car attached - he never build the big shop he wanted. When I moved in I built it and he came to see it. You could see he wished he had done the same - unfortunately he was now on his death bead (CA). I felt terrible but learned you can't go through life pinching every penny.
As for the lift - I've had mine for maybe 3 years and it looked WELL-used! So you got a good deal for $1700 and looking new!

Enjoy it, just don't neglect your family!!

Started the two tone wall paint after work today the floor will be epoxy gray with gray, black, blue and red flakes planning on black trim above gray and where wall meets floor, due to the walls being plywood there was some paint bleed but i can live with it,,,My wife bought me the sign for our garage which is a photo of my 3 boys for x-mas this year my middle son (center of sign) died a couple years ago he would have loved finally having a shop to work in...

Now you know why i only photograph the one wall, I have to keep shuffling "stuff" around to paint etc. Waiting for weather (RAIN) to give us a break so we can paint (epoxy) the floor being 1200sq, ft it took me awhile to save up enough $$

Thank you, when I was young two things I never thought I would not have 1: motorcycle (raced motoX) 2: a garage. I have not even rode a bike in years but I have garage now its taking extra time since I am doing it all myself wish I had the energy I had when 20. Good luck with your project.
