Finish Nailer

I have been looking for a finish nailer wanted Dewalt but started the great white hunt nave it narrowed down to Rigid for $139.00 or Dewalt for$169.00. Allready ane the dewalt framing nailer and am pleased with it. But figured I would save $30.00 and try the Rigid. What does the GJ clan have to say about the Rigid gun thanks for the insight and help in advance.

What type of finishing? I've used 16 gauge,18 gauge, and now am using 23 gauge pins. The 23 gauge gun I'm using cost me C$300.00. I tried a cheap C$60 gun but it jammed the first two time I used it so took it back and bought a Cadex. Most of my tools have been middle of the road stuff like dewalt, now I try to get better, there's just less frustration.

Not sure what size you're looking for, but if you want a 16 gauge finish nailer, my Hitachi was only $109 from Lowes, and it's fantastic quality. Never used Dewalt finish nailers but I never cared for their framing nailers. The only Ridgid nailer I have is a 23 gauge pin nailer, but I feel that it's pretty solid, and I'd imagine their other finish nailers are good as well. I never had a use for a 15 gauge finish nailer, so I can't comment if that's what you're looking for. If I did a lot of exterior trim, I'd probably pick up one. Hitachi will always be my first choice, but I'd choose Ridgid over Dewalt any day.

The one I am looking at is a 15 gauge rigid. The dewalt is a 15 gauge also. The projects coming up this should be enough to get done with what I have to do. The reviews on the rigid seem to be mostly 4 and 5 star that is why i am checking here. My Dewalt framing nailer is a beast and has never misfired.

I've had good service from my Senco 18gauge 2" Brad nailer and 23 gauge 1" Pin Nailer. My Senco framing nailer *****, but I like their finish guns.

If you are considering Hitachi, Big Sky tools runs some great specials. I have the 15 Gauge Angle Finish nailer, really like it.

Checked Big Sky what is the grade A and C reconditioned hitachi they have some pretty decent prices on those.

Grade A reconditioned are almost indistinguishable from new , may be open box, store display new returns, with little or no visible wear, etc.

Grade C tools are reconditioned warranty returns, with evidence of previous wear and tear that don't affect form or function.

Warranties are clearly stated.

All air and power tools are "used" as soon as you pull the trigger the first time....

If you're only going to buy one nailer, I'd get a 2" 18 gauge brad nailer.
The 15 gauge nailer is too big for fine finish work. It's great for T&G paneling, 3/4" casing, doors, etc.

I have the hitachi 16ga finishing nailer. Been fantastic and have run a few thousand nails through it. Only issue I had was I tried running small nails through it (5/8" maybe?) and it jammed a couple times. Its never jammed on anything else.
