Fish eyes in my Epoxy-Coat

Hi all. I just joined here and would like some help with my garage floor. I just put Epoxy-Coat on my floor and it looked great until about 20 min. later a small section developed some fish eyes! I rerolled the area and it looked ok until about an 1/2 hr later and the fish eyes appeared again! The floor was prepped properly, acid wash foamed nicely and rinsed several times. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to correct this?

There really isn't anything you are doing wrong. What I think is going on is that you have silicone contamination. That stuff even stays in the air. It makes epoxies fish eye like crazy. The only thing you can do is make it an aggregate floor (chips or quartz) to hide the fact that its fish eyeing.

One of our DIY's had a few fisheyes, couldn't figure out what the cause was. Finally traced it to an overhead air conditioning duct. The HVAC had silicon lubricant in the system, probably on a vent flap, and since the a/c was running during the floor install some silicon misted onto the floor.

Some other contamination sources I've heard of... Silicon in an air compressor system used to blow out dust. Using a broom that was also used to sweep up silicon stuff on the floor. A rag used to clean a car with silicon treatment also used to wipe the floor before a re-coat.
