hey guys, thought i'd put this here cuz if i fix this...my HEATER and A/C will run less :)

standard man door on a 1958 detached garage, can see daylight on 3 sides, all but the hinge side. i can see that the door USED to have something between the two mating surfaces and all that is left is a copper flange that is bent over on itself that and the flange opens outward.

now my question is, A) does this sound familiar to anyone for construction of that era B) was there something else inbetween the copper and the door that better sealed the door opening when the door is closed. C) if so, is this something that i can readily acquire and make my door less drafty?

sorry its dark and i don't have a good light source to take a picture right now, maybe i can convince the wife to snap something tomorrow when she gets home from work.

mucho appreciated.

Copper leaf seals are on my house, built in 1979. They are good at sealing drafts (when new and springy) but have less than zero insulating value. Over time they get smashed down flat and don't work any more, but you can bend them back out. They still sell them at Home Depot, I believe. Any modern EPDM seal is a better bet.
