Floor covering for small mezzanine?

Have a small mezzanine above a half bath and a bit more. Total area is 80 sq ft. Just have plywood down that is B grade and pretty good looking. Only plan to put a little storage up there so very little traffic. A furnace will sit on the corner of it. Contemplating if I should paint it or put down some cheap vinyl remnant to make it a little more durable or just leave it as is.

You could put a polyurethane finish on the plywood.
