Floor lift cement pour

I am still in the dreaming process of my garage. Of course one of the things I would like in my garage is a lift. Would I really need to pour a whole slab 10x10x8 for a a lift? Could I just have a 2x2x8deep area poured, under where each leg will be? Would there be enough $$$ $avings to even worry about?
Like I said I am just trying to figure things out still at this point.

Most 2 post 7,000-10,000lb lifts don't require more then a 4-6", 3000-4000psi slab. Some people like to add piers but most manufactures don't require them.
