Floor Prep Help

I've read through pages and pages of the forum and have different options on how to prep my floor. I have a garage that is almost 1000 sqft and has been previously painted. I know that I need to get the paint off and have a good surface for the primer to attach to. A tool rental store told me not to rent the diamabrush or 10"grinder because the paint won't let them operate correctly.

Any help on the best course of action would be greatly appreciated.

Absolutely good idea to remove the old coating. We find to remove a coating just rent a good diamond floor grinder. Diamabrush can work ok ,but not as fast, and if the one that you rent is 'worn' or beat up, it could slow you down quite a bit, especially on a large area like this.
