Floor Prep Question prior to Epoxy Coating

I am preparing my garage floor for Epoxy-Coat and I'm not sure how to deal with a lip designed to keep water from entering the garage.

The lip is about 1.5 inches high (see picture), it is inside my garage (meaning the garage door closes on the lower part of the concrete in the picture) and the face of the lip is not well-defined. In fact it's rough.

My question is, what is the best way to apply the epoxy coating near this feature? Since the epoxy is self-leveling and designed for horizontal surfaces, I'm guessing it is not possible to paint the face of the lip and have the stuff adhere to it. I was not planning on applying epoxy to the lower section where the garage door closes (driveway level), but not sure how to deal with the lip.

Apply epoxy right up to it? If so, it won't be a clean edge because the lip is a bit saw toothed.

Mask a clean line just behind the lip and start the epoxy there? Could look a little weird.

You will be able to paint/coat the face of the ledge, if you choose. I had a concrete stem wall in my previous shop and when I coated the floors, I did the stem walls as well. If it were me, I might use the base of the lip as the break-point in the coating, as the coating will help the lip "disappear" somewhat.

Wrap that edge with a piece of aluminum or stainless (or diamondplate) angle iron.

Good idea. I'll keep this mind in case it epoxying the lip doesn't come out the way I want it.
