I have the 179, which looks identical to the 175, and the yellow part is a hard rubber.

Keep looking until you get one with the rubber holster - they're pretty much a necessity when working on cars. Let me know if you need me to take some pictures of what the holster can do - my daughter is still asleep, but she can help me put some up later on. If you're a GM purist, I want to let you know that GM wanted its techs to have Fluke 87 meters because they are true RMS.
One of my teachers bought an 87 for this reason when he was a tech.

I have a 175 and the yellow part is rubber. It's not removable, but it's not hard plastic. The 175 is also true RMS. I think thats a good deal for a solid meter.

I stand corrected. I gave mine a quick feel, and it felt hard.. (jeez, don't take that out of context). Upon closer examination, it is hard rubber, and removable.
