Who here uses expanding foam spray guns?

I bought a cheap one last summer, should have bought one years ago. Game changer over the stupid cans and lots more "flavors" of materials available.

Any tips/tricks to getting a "fan" spray pattern? Have some wider areas I'd like to hit and don't want to get a froth pack or similar

I ran a couple cases of adhesive through a great stuff pro gun. Cleanliness was critical, and doing it quickly.

Never did any insulation with it, so I don't have experience on a fan spray. I would have expected that to just come from the right tip

Biggest issue I've had is getting the can on without blowing out. Last can I bought was from the yard and was the first one without issues, not sure if HD cans or my gun has bad threads...

This last can has been on close to 2 months, broke the hard foam off the tip, opened the valve and started spraying. Probably run the acetone through it when done, but for what I paid if it dies now (after 6? Cans) it paid for itself.

Kit came with a couple tips, none seemed to make a fan pattern. Not sure if I didn't have the pressure cranked enough or if the tips ****

Thread the needle out as far as you can. Not a great deal of adjustment. I keep a soup can of lacquer thinner or acetone & dip / store the end in it while not spraying. The nozzle occludes while using it & this helps to get more volume out. Also cheaper than the cleaner cans that is sold. I only use it when putting the gun up at the end of a project.
Not helping the wide spray situation, but check your local Restore for cans. I've found it for less that 1/2 price and never got any that didn't spray.

Tried the tip again....

More foam on the floor then in the joist bay. At least it will scrape up clean tomorrow.

Can is empty, gun is clean. ******* me didn't put "foam" on my list this morning so guess what I didn't buy?

So this is the tip the gun came with:

Reading some reviews it seems the "spray" isn't strong enough...

In other related news, be sure that the tip from the last can isn't stuck in the gun. Something didn't look right but didn't want to damage the gun, so didn't yank it out. After blowing most of a can into the trash I figured the gun was garbage anyway so yanked the plastic out. Turns out the tip from the cleaner can broke off...
