Forced air ng heater, anyone have this model?

It would be for a 3 car garage with 10ft ceilings. I think it gives off less CO and other bad stuff than most other heaters. The downside is cost and a vent is needed.

I'm wondering how much ng and electricity it would use as well as warming capabilities and air quality (and odor) in the garage with it running.

Anyone here have something similar?

I have 75,000 btu heater Called a Hot Dawg made by modine. {identical to yours}
It heats a 3 car garage no problem with a quick recovery time.
No smell what so ever and a direct vent which is fantastic
As far as ng use, no idea

I don't have one, but Ihave a friend that has a Trane unit similar to the one you are showing. His is LP, again no smell and it works great. They work similar to the furnace in your house. Thats why you have it vented outside.

My father has a Reznor very similar to the one you are looking at. GREAT heater heats up quick and well worth the money. Not sure what it costs to power but his runs of natural gas. Vents right out the side of the garage with no smell.

I also use a REZNOR for my 3 bay garage. Got it about 10 years ago from an old business that remodeled for $10. Converted it to propane ($30), added a thermosostat ($12) and painted the outside covers with black hi temp BBQ grill paint. Thing has to be at least 35 years old. Works perfectly. If the new Reznor units are like their old units, then I'd give them an unqualified endorsement. I'm now remodeling my garage, top-to-bottom, but the REZNOR stays in place for another 10-20 years.

Also, should 45k btu for a 3 car insulated 10ft ceiling garage be ok assuming I do not need it to be burning up in there?

There are web sites that give a pretty good estimation of the cost to operate heaters. I do not have the links but I have searched and found them before. Find the cost of gas or electric off of your power bill and the approximate R value of your insulation, and you will be in business.

to wifehatescar: My shop is about same size as yours. Coldest temp I've seen in past 10 years was 17 degrees. Usually coldest winter months are mid 20s at night and mid 30s day. I keep my thermostat at 55 degrees if I plan to be in shop a lot otherwise, I turn heat off. Coldest inside temp I've seen was 38. It took about an hour to get it warmed back to 60 degrees. Much higher than that is too warm for me to work in. Reznor unit is located near ceiling in back corner pointed at opposite corner of shop.
Think my unit is rated at 30-35K BTU which produces more than enough for my needs.
Sorry, I have no idea of cost for heating for you because it's included with home heating costs for propane. Propane recently is probably the most expensive way to go. Ten years ago elec was most expensive...go figure. Couple friends have recently added a wood stove to their shops for heating. Wood costs ~ $150 per cord if you don't have it available on your property of can't get it free from a friend. I might add a wood stove because my son can give me all I need from his woods. Thanks for the info, sounds like a 45k btu unit will be more than enough for me. They advertize it as a 2-3 car garage unit so I was a bit unsure. One more thing Bill, do you notice an odor at all or not? I am fairly sensitive to where a gas burning odor will bother me.

My unit vents with a "chimney type" pipe thru the roof like used on a gas hot water heater. I've never noticed any gas or other related odors inside the shop. Let me know if you need more, Bill
