if I want to see responses from posts that I recently posted in, is the only way to do that by “subscribing “ to that post? I haven’t seen a “recent post” or anything like that, am I missing something?

If you go to your user control panel (click on your "logged-in" name at upper right of the header), click Statistics tab (next to "About Me"), then Find All Posts Started by "Notgrownup" then it will allow you to select the threads which you initiated. There is also a separate link for all of your reply-posts in any thread although there's a limit to how many are stored.

you should be auto-subscribing to all threads you post in. then you can click on "User CP" on the left of the black bar on top. this will take you to a list of any threads that have new posts since the one you made.

that's my default for starting to look at this board. once I go through any subscribed threads, then I go to new posts.

my two bookmarks:
Subscriptions: www.garagejournal.com/forum/usercp.php
New Threads: www.garagejournal.com/forum/search.php?do=getnew

I just follow along with the new post link located on top of the forum page on daily basis.

If the thread is continually active with people responding it will keep being refreshed there. Works for me :D

I don't need needless notification

First, I've moved this to the proper section.

Second, there's a sticky that might answer your question.

Because of the wording in your opening line, I'm not sure what you mean. If you're trying to find threads you have posted in, those threads will have a green box/white star next to them.
See the attached picture for a better explanation.

He might be talking about in the app in a phone. Tapatalk has a view that shows responses or quotes. New app does not.

I haven’t seen what’s in your screenshot, I’m not on Tapatalk.
Other forums I’m on have a link that just says “Recent posts” you click on and all the posts I’ve posted on that have new activity pops up.

It’s not a huge deal, was just wondering if I was missing something.

What I screenshot should be on every page of the forum listing threads. Any thread you have posted in will have a green square/white star.

That picture is just the key, like on a map, describing what it all means. It's located near the bottom of the page.
