Gap between concrete driveway and garage floor?

So going to be installing VCT on my garage floor, thanks to the info I found on this site. I have a poured concrete drive way with about a 2" gap between that and garage floor. This gap is right where my garage door comes down and goes into.

I want to get the rubber thresholds to make a better seal, as well as finish off the edge of the VCT at the garage door opening.

Question is, should I just fill that gap in with sand or something? This way concrete can still expand, but provide a base for the rubber threshold to sit on so there is no gap under neath?

I've seen a neighbor laboriously filling in expansion joints in his sidewalks with some sort of grayish gloop. 2" might be a stretch, but I bet there's some near-indestructible compound you can fill the gap with.

Sonneborn NP1 or epoxy/urethane paste that is flexible. Check your local equipment supply house and see if they have any old stock they can make a deal on. I think sand would move too much.

I will take a pic tonight and post it. I want to clarify, this isn't a gap caused by shifting or anything like that. It is just a standard expansion gap between driveway concrete and garage slab. I would just leave it normally, except unlike other garage doors, this gap is perfectly aligned with where my garage door touches ground.

So I want to get a garage threshold like this to "finish" off the edging of my vct.

See the gap in the picture top picture, that is just like what I have, except right where the garage threshold will go for the garage door.

So do you think I need to "fill" that gap before placing the threshold over it or is that going to be strong enough rubber to withstand the garage door coming down on it and no direct support under the middle of it?
